Someone tell me how to accurately measure a group like this, I am not sure exactly what to measure. Do you measure between the farthest holes? In this pic, there are 5 holes, the center hole in the group is 2 in 1. The gun shoots a little low, I was aiming at 6 o'clock on the center ring to see the POI. Nevertheless when I first shot the P-64, that is what was surprising to me, the accuracy. Since my wife uses this gun for carry, or to put in the car, she asked if I wanted her to shoot the target. Quickly, too quickly, I answered, "The shots need to hit the paper Honey." After you answer how to properly measure a group, I will then know how to measure the group of bumps on my head. :P :D No, she is good, better with rifles, and my 12 year old daughter is quite good with a little Marlin mod. 60SS. Her and my son was both wanting to shoot at a target that had a black and red Caterpillar crawling across it this summer. It was her turn so she took one shot and cut it in two. 8-) It is fun to shoot with the kids and wife, Amen?

I'm gonna attempt to get to the range by myself sunday morning. I have turkey targets and gear ready to go.If I get there early enough I should be the only one there and so I can close in at 30 feet and get my contest targets done. I'm ready!

I didn't see your entry in the comp. thread, could it have ended up in another thread? I will do a search in a min...

To measure a group size you measure across the farthest 2 points (outside edge of the holes). The way I have been doing this on the computer is to mark the holes on a paper target in the same respective positions as the holes on the picture of the target that is on my screen. I measured a 1.5" group on the target you posted above.

add edit: couldnt find your entry in any or your posts.

Right, noticed this was the 'Comments' thread, while the other is the 'images of targets.'

A question: What kind of paper would ya'll recommend for this?

I only had access to this glossy stuff my friend had loaded n the printer at the time, and shots 'tore' more than 'punched' through the paper (some holes have 1" tears running vertically from them where the paper ripped).

Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to shoot again before the 1st, I guess I just need to use tape along the back of the target to 'form up' the holes so they're easier to see.

(Pics to be posted once I get home and get things set up... After a 3 hour commute that is. -.-; )

That 3 times recycled, off-white colored, buy-by-the-pound paper you get at WallyMart makes great targets.

Also, your backboard has allot to do with how clean your bullet holes are no matter what paper your target is printed on. If you tape your targets tightly onto a clean piece of cardboard/plasterboard/particleboard or similar you will get clean holes, loosely taped or shot up backboards will produce ragged holes and backboards like plywood will grab the paper when it is shot and tear when you take the target off the board.

Dont worry about it though, post the best pic of your target that you can.

to add one more option, I shoot my targets from hangers at the range (no backboard, and it makes pretty good holes)

I'll try to remember that next time. This was at a range w/ hangers, so I don't really have many options for backboard...

Not exactly contest material, but I thought this was amusing. After another hour or so of shooting that day, I was out of target real-estate, so I thought I'd take my worst turkey target and try the last 6 shots of 7.62x25 in my CZ-52 at 15 yds, aiming for the head. Got my lucky shot of the day by giving the turkey a new eyeball... ;D

hahaha I love it! hopefully it was the first shot out of the six, otherwise that turkey would have been out of there!

I'll bet he was assuming the bird was bobbing its head around and would have gotten an eye-shot every time. :-)

See, all the other shots would've been to the head, only... the darned bird kept bobbing. Yeah... that's it, that's exactly what happened, I swear. ;)

I shot as I feared. One of my practice targets was better than my official targets.

I guess there's always next year. >:(

I need to break in all of my other guns, too, to see which one shoots best for me.
