My first P64

Post by rmeron »

I just joined this site,I;ve got a P64 on lay-a-way from beasleydano, and he told me about this site.
I have 2 Makarovs,an East German in 9x18 and a Commercial Russian in .380ACP.
I'm really looking forward to the P64(is the double action trigger really as tough as everyone says) ;D

it feels like dragging a brick or a cinder block across the floor on a string tied to your finger

rmeron,

Congrats and welcome! The trigger pull is really bad. One positive about the trigger pull is that most members that use it as a CCW keep it loaded with one in the chamber, hammerdown, safety off.

The DA trigger-pull on my round hammer '68 is so bad that I doubt if I could use it left-handed. My later, triangular hammer P-64s have much better DA pulls. Still stiff, but no plans to do anything about them.

Get the Wolf 19 or 20lb mainspring and the increased power recoil spring. They really do help.

Am I the lone freak here? When I bought my first P-64 last year I was expecting something aweful until I shot it and I don't think the pull or recoil is all that bad. Not as cozy as my .40 but not too bad. Am I alone?

As soon as I get mine and get a chance to shoot it I'll post my feelings on the subject.

I have a couple of Rugers that folks on the Ruger site with the same models say they have to do work on for trigger pull, but I don't have a problem with any of my triggers, even the Makarov's I own are OK for me,

We'll see.
