nbender contact info

Guys,

A recent complaint is that I'm a spook in the woods splaying out ammunition information without backup.

This complaint has never been registered against me before. But it does hit a mark: I may appear to be portraying an ammunition expert, and I don't mean to be doing that. All I do is label, test, and record data. I also record what others have experienced with different varieties of 9x18 ammunition over the past years.

It is my hobby.

I appreciate Norm for giving his contact info to the world. But my wife doesn't want me to do that. It's not hard to find who I am, as has been shown here, but I need to maintain that level of anonymity for the marriage.

If anyone would like to contact me they can do so through the board. Many have, and I always reply by name. I will send any 9x18 test info requested. I don't send back a lot of opinions, just ammo tests.

Regards,

nbenber

Wow ... I can't imagine that anyone would feel entitled to know any more about a member than what the member wants to share. If I have doubts about any information that is presented, I have several options and I evaluate them knowing that I didn't pay a penny for anything I read:

1. Blindly accept it (definitely not my style)
2. Read through a bunch of posts from that particular source and see if the stories are consistent and believable ... is the person careful to make reasonable and well argued points? If so, I'm likely to believe other things they write.
3. Be closed-minded and believe only what I want.
4. Doubt everything to the point that the internet is no longer a viable source of info.

I choose #2 most every time ... one reason that I like to frequent just a couple of forums is that I get to know the posters by reputation ... Jim Keenan at TFL is a great example ... he frequents the Smithy forum there and has a wealth of good info that he's always willing to share. He's taught me a TON. There's a guy named Clark over there on the reloading forum that seems to enjoy testing pistols to failure ... after years of shaking my head, I have decided that he is pretty credible in his analyses ... I don't share his passion for destroying firearms, but I've never seen him contradict himself, so I tend to believe what he posts, as crazy as it sometimes sounds.

If people don't want to believe what you post, that's THEIR issue and they should be fine with just not reading your posts ...

I for one will appreciate all the info I read, but I ignore any credentials that people claim to have (that's why I never post my own). As they say, "the proof is in the pudding!" I always call people on contradictions or logical flaws if they make them, and especially if they are giving advice that could affect the safety of one less experienced (think hot reload recipes, etc). There's too much to learn here to doubt everything, but it all should be taken with a grain of salt.

Some people take things WAY too seriously. These boards are entertaining, informative, enlightening and sometimes amusing. I can't imagine losing any sleep over anything someone posted.

Where's Mongo when we need him?

Remember his old post: "Arguing on the internet is retarded".
