Hornady issues
I am still in search of a good JHP round. I read in a recent post that they had feed issues with the Hornady. What is everyone's opinions of Hornady. Any other suggestions?

I have used several boxes of them with zero failures.

reprisejim, I repeat this about 6 times a year - I believe that your pistol can be made to feed all the standard brands of JHP or HP. Sometimes they need break-in time - 300 to 500 rounds fed through; sometimes they benifit from polishing the feed ramp or even filing down the sharp angle at the bottom of the feed ramp. I'm no gunsmith, in fact I'm no mechanic, but I can look at how the round feeds and see if there are problems that need to be addressed.
Hornady is a standard reliable brand (except for the one Hornady squib I had some years ago). Your pistol should feed them well, or learn to feed them well. The Hornady expands well and has been considered a good HP in 9x18 for a long time.
Sometimes it helps to get to a secluded spot, fill up a magazine, point the pistol towards a safe zone, and just rack a bunch of rounds through without firing. Things will smooth out eventually.
It used to be on the Makarov forum that Failure To Feed was the most common thread posted. As those pistols have now been in service for a while you don't see many FTF posts. The Makarovs are getting broken in. P-64s and PA-63s are mostly still fairly new, so we're seeing FTFs posted here now.
Well, that's my speech. I've had several Makarovs that would just not feed anything until I shot them into submission. Now they'll feed anything. I think the same method will work for the majority of pistols that are well built. Including the P-64.

I've had feeding problems on the initial loaded round. It has been jamming right into the ramp and back setting the bullet into the case. Once it loads they fed while firing 100%, just on the initial load is where I could pretty much expect a problem. I've got 5 or 6 rounds that I won't fire now because of the setback condition.
