Problem with P-64
I disassembled my P-64 a few days ago, finally found the safety detente on the floor! Cleaned and put everything back together but have a problem. Before putting the grips on I cocked the hammer and holding the transfer bar in pulled the trigger dropping the hammer. However the gun will not go through the motions of firing double action. In fact the back of the transfer bar does not seem to be attached to anything. pulling the trigger single action causes it to brush by a part causing the hammer to drop. Oh, I forgot, I had not installed the slide yet. Also, is the trigger spring supposed to have the arms pointing upwards or downwards for correct installation, and does the longer arm point to the front or back. Any suggestions as to what may be going on will be greatly appreciated.

I think Norm has hit mark again to solve your problem. Just in case you have not read it, there is a "Stickey" with the Assembly/Disassembly for the P-64. This manual gives full details. Here is the link to the posting, and the manual is in the first post. http://p64.proboards67.com/index.cgi?bo ... 1180205461

Problem with P-64
Thanks all!! My daughter has a new baby and is staying with us for a while so it may be a few days before I get back to working on my P-64. I printed out Troy's instructions on the link you gave, and they have been very helpful. However I still don't understand what holds the rear end of the trigger bar to what part of the hammer release mechanism. As I said, pulling the trigger while holding the trigger bar against the frame lets the hammer drop single action, but the trigger just flops back and forth with the rear of the bar not touching anything for a double action pull. It has occured to me that not having the grips in place nor the slide on may have something to do with no double action pull. Do the grips and slide hold the trigger bar and slide stop bar in place?? Also there is a deep notch in the back of the trigger bar, is this supposed to engage another part? I wish I had studied this more when taking it apart, and maybe I wouldn't be having thses problems now. Thanks all for any further guidance.
