I just did some shopping (bought my first real gun safe...combination and everything!) while I was shopping I picked up some snap caps for dry firing. But I grabbed 380 instead of the 9mm Mak. Somewhere in the back of my mind I recall someone saying these would be okay to use instead of the 9mm Mak if they weren't available. Is that correct, can I use them without damaging anything? I'd hate to have to drive an hour (best deal I could find on the safe / no sales tax either) just to swap out a $14 item.

Hey Carguy ! I would try one and if it doesn't work then return it? will the 9mm Luger snap-cap work? It could be trimmed down ,I would think. It is only a millimeter around the case mouth. Thats just my guess ,but I'd think either will work . I have a 20guage snapcap and i never use them anyway. I have read that Rimfires get beat up a bit by dry-firing, but, others might say it is best to use them. It might be hard to find one in 9mmMak cal. ? Good Luck Man ! nothing ventured , nothing gained. G

Every time I tried to order from Makarov.com they were sold out...the same with the holster that I wanted. So I keep looking. I did find some but like the idiot I am...grabbed the wrong ones!
Now that my son and I wrestled the safe into place we need to bolt that baby in and start loading it up!
Thanks 8~)

Never mind!
I pulled out some 9x18 ammo...not even close. I don't know where I heard that or what I was drinking when I thought I heard it but...wrong! 380 is way too small, wouldn't chance getting stuck.
I was asking because the package was sealed and I didn't want to break the seal and give an excuse to bust my aggies when I returned them.
So, 60 miles at $2.60 a gallon, 22 miles per gallon means about $7 bucks each way...$14.00 in gas to get my $14.40 back...thank goodnes it's a company car and I expense the gas!!! 8~)

Hey Carguy, the 9mm luger and the .380 are the same diameter and i use trimmed luger brass when i reload sometimes. they are all three close enough to the same thing except for length.(9x17=380,9x18=9mmMak, 9x19=9mmLuger ) The length is the the only worry that i can tell, might matter . Good Luck, G

poopy!
The 380 just really seemed skinny! Okay, okay I guess I have to get a gun out and stick a 380 snapper in to check it out.
Funny coincidence, I am meeting a member of a local forum to pick up some ammo tomorrow. He bought out an estate or something...lots of reloading stuff...but I don't reload...I mentioned I like 9mm Makarov pistols and he remarked, "Oh! 380s I have some of those, how much do you wan to buy?" It's amazing how many people just don't know. I guess we want it a secret to keep demand low so availability is high on pistols but we need demand high to get more shops to carry ammo but we need demand low to keep the prices down or is it up?! 8~)
