Hemostats

Post by robhic »

Anybody who has watched the excellent videos here done by Junius Taylor has seen how useful the hemostats are for holding the firing pin outta the way while working on your pistol. Well, I just went to AMAZON and searched for 'hemostats' and came up with a bunch of listings.

The best was on the Amazon/Ebay section (came up automatically) for 2 pair, 1 curved and 1 straight for $6 with FREE SHIPPING! Can't beat that with a stick!

I have seen what passes for current day inexpensive hemos at the funshow and quite frankly they are appear light wight and would probably be OK for light duty.

I have a pair dating back to the 1970's and they have some weigh to them and have held up to some pretty hard use as far as gripping oversize items and being able to lock them w/o breaking.

Used them last week on a nut that needed to be held in a tight place so I could get the screw threaded, and had to push them to the limit to get the handles locked but they didn't fail me.

But yea for the price that looks like a bargain even if they don't last decades :)

I agree. But for $6 and no shipping I'm sure I'll get 6 bucks worth of use outta them! When I took the safety assembly out and used needle nose pliers which took up one of my hands, I'd have paid twice that price at that moment for ONE pair of the hemostats! They look like 6 buck Chinese-made merchandise and won't get used too often. But when they do .....
