Thanks for the tips, new hammer and recoil springs installed

Post by GA400 »

Guys,

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the helpful tutorials and pictures. I replaced my hammer spring a couple months ago with the 18 lb one and it went very smooth. I replaced the recoil spring with a 22 lb one and it was tough, I couldn't get slide to seat with it on. I kept sanding down the ends of the spring, very little by very little and was able to get it on. Also put on zee borg grips with thumb rest on left. Got to shoot it the first time last weekend after doing the work, and the gun is still "peppy" but it is much easier to control now. I also shot my cz-82 and my new bodyguard .380. The cz-82 seems to naturally find the bullseye without even thinking about it, the p-64 is right there with it. The bodyguard is a neat, small, and light gun, but it pales in comparison to the accuracy of the p-64 and cz-82. Good thing it has a laser :)

Thanks

Rich

I want to add my thanks to everyone for the tutorials and pictures. I purchased my first P64 about a month ago. Before firing it, I replaced my hammer spring with 18#, firing pin spring and recoil spring with 20#. Yes, the recoil spring needed flattening of the ends of the spring, just like others had suggested. If it hadn't been for everyone's posts, I would have had a lot more trouble, and would have been really confused by the problems with the new recoil spring. I'm also fairly certain that I would have launched the detent into some dark corner.

Thanks again.
