I'm in the process of buying my first P64...but I was wondering what ammo everyone had been using. I'm planning on using the gun for an all around target plus self defense concealed weapon.
I saw that the manual says that it shoots a 71gr FMJ...but I have never seen that ammo before. The lightest weight grain I've ever seen is a 95gr I believe...all the way to a 109gr. What experiences has anyone had with different ammo and stress and fatigue on the weapon from such ammo.
Is it safe to put a heavier recoil spring in and shoot a 95gr shot through or should I find some 71gr. Also...has anyone ever found a 9X18 hollow point? I've never seen any of those ever being made either.
Thanks in advance and I'm looking forward to my new P64.

Ammo Used?
Brown bear makes good ammo in both round nose and hollow point. The 71 grain does not exist. You probably want to do the wolf spring kit-- i got the 19 pound hammer and the 20 pound recoil spring. Took like 5 minutes to switch them out. The 18 pound hammer and 22 pound recoil might have been better. I picked up silver bear for 10 bucks a box at a recent gun show and it can be had in various places on the web for around that price.

+1 with Norm, Wolf uses floor sweep components and their quality control and tolerances are off the scale as far as I'm concerned. I have used their ammo in my SKS and it didn't cause any problems, but I won't be getting any more of it.
