Changing barrel Size??
Hey yall, just wondering if there is any way of changing the barrel size to fit a regular 9mm luger round, i know u can change barrels on a shotgun, not sure on a pistol, this to me would be a big help with finding ammo, and a well worth investment, some of yall who read my post might see a trend of saving money, im a poor college student, that has expensive wants, guess im lookin for shortcuts to save some cash, but thanks guys - Pirk

This would be VERY dangerous. The 9mm parabellum is a much higher pressure round designed for locked breach pistols. The P-64 is a simple blowback design that relies on only the mass of the slide and spring pressure to keep the breach closed until the pressure of the hot propellant gasses have dropped to a safe level. You can only safely shoot 9x18 Makarov ammo in a P-64. Not .380 acp, 9mm Ultra, 9mm Kurz or any other round. Safe shooting.

I think I read on this board some where that the p-64 was first produced in a 380 and 380's are going to be the about same price as 9x18's and without the punch that the 9x18 has

I pretty much agree with what you say--but it did remind me of a curiosity I ran into--the 9 MM I traded in for my Mak was actually a fixed-barrel, blowback design. The slide was really massive, tho, and that probably explains why i had so much trouble with it...

I dont no enough about it, i figured you could bore it out, im not familar with the terms blowback and the other one, jsut make the same barrel, but make it use the luger shell, jsut make it machanicaly the same as the 9x18 barrel

T use the same barrel you would have to sleeve the barrel then re chamber it 9mm LUGER won't fit in the mag so thats out so that leaves you with the 380 , it's more trouble work than it's worth and it would cost you about $300.00 to do. and if you did it your self a 9mm sleeve would cost 25.00 to $75.00 the 380 chamber reamer would cost you $75.00 to $200.00 it's not worth it

There are 9mm blowbacks that are designed that way from the ground up. I once owned a Sardius 9mm from Israel. The key is a very heavy slide and a very strong recoil spring. A .380 P-64 would ease ammo availability problems for some.

Yeah, this one had a MASSIVE slide--Truth be told, it probably would have functioned OK with a better shooter, but it kept stovepiping on me, or failing to go completely into battery--But I was able to trade it in on an EGerman Mak, so it worked out OK...
