Looking to buy one

Post by imjin138 »

Hello, I am looking at buying a P64 I have found some on the net, I have had surplus guns before and liked them. I have browsed through this forum for the past day or so reading posts and enjoying them.

My plan is to keep the gun handy in the house for home defense, and use it for carry. The only thing I am worried about is some of the hinge pin questions I have seen.

Any suggestions for me?

Thank you Stan

I personally dont think it is a big problem it just seems to be a few in last few weeks.of all the members here a the large amount of the P64 I think the concern is negligable one at best..
That is coming from some one who had the problem,,,it was an easy fix and didnt stop buying 2 more of these fine guns.. Sometimes when a problem occurs we have so many knowledable people here it makes a problem appear larger then it is..everyone here just likes to help.which is great.

imjin138,

First welcome to our P-64 board glad to have you with us, and second, "anj' is right, it not a big problem as least it hasn't been in the past, but we do have members here that help with the just about any problem that pops up. Do remember though that the P-64 is a surplus pistol that was stored for several years, and needs to be cleaned thoroughly, and for the most part there are no parts available for the P-64, however, that in part is the reason a lot of us have bought more than one P-64, for back up plus parts.

Try J & G Sales. They still have a few and prices are better than the gun forums.

imjin138, welcome to the forum!
This is the first I've heard of the problem in all the years I've owned my P64. After reading the the recent postings I found myself checking the pin several times today and still no problems with thousands of rounds through handgun. I'm not sure that I agree with the Locktite fix, sounds like a problem postponed to me.
