I wanted a milsurp that is cheap to plink with but I really wanted an M1 Carbine...but I wanted a real M1, US War Surplus just without the cost!

So I got this

Or should I say I made this!!

It started life as a Ruger 10/22 with some surplus parts and lots of fitting ended up with...as Trent has called it...an M1 Trainer!!

Lots of fun and cheap to shoot...someday a real one...but for now this will do. Still needs some tweeking and have to mount a couple of empty mag bodies to the bottom of the Ruger mags so it will appear to be a real M1!! 8-)

Carguy, great job, I swear when I first looked at it I thought was an M-1 Carbine. It took me several double takes to identify it as a Ruger, super project, great job.
