Kerosene can be your friend :P

1: Your SKS is in Cosmoline

2: Kerosene smells bad (Ask your wife)

3: Your SKS is still in Cosmoline and still smells bad

5: Spend all night scrubbing your SKS

6: Wife wakes you up and says: "Wow its blond. That's pretty!"

My house smells like Cosmoline.

The wood is pretty, the cosmo is gone, and she is a really pretty Yugo 59/66.

My wife is blond though......

Does the kerosene remove whatever the original finish was and leave you with bare wood, or does it leave a clean original finish?

I have a Swedish M96 Mauser that could use some cleaning.

Kerosene is for removing the Cosmoline from storage.

I use Easy Off oven cleaner for stocks. It eats the crap right out of the wood, and leaves you with bare original wood.

I will post pictures tonight or tomorrow.

She cleaned up very nice 8-)

It took about two hours from start to finish, but was a nice example of an unissued SKS to begin with.

My other one is The Beast. This one is The Beauty. The Beast had been issued and was not the best example I have ever had. I like The Beast for reasons all on its own. It has never mis-fired or jammed.

This one is just pretty :P
$220.00 OTD at the local gun show.
I did the stock with Tung-Oil.
