I just noticed a crack in the slide of my p-64. The crack is located in the safety mechanism. Basically it is the piece of metal that the hammer hits. The crack happened on one side of this safety mechanism piece. So... the safety lever does not work. It cannot be pulled down because of the crack between the left and right side of the piece. If you look at the piece of metal (not the firing pin but the metal pice that surrounds it) it has a straight upside down U. Looking at it the top right of this U is cracked so the safety mechanism is disconnected from the left and right piece. My question is if it will continue to fire. I have fired 6 rounds and it worked fine. I have also dry fired it numerous times to see if this piece could possible give way or disassemble. Let me know if there is a way to field strip the slide and possible weld the safety mechanism together. It is my only self defense gun so I dont want to worry about it messing up. If I had the money I would buy a new one just in case but I dont so any repair ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks a bunch
I also have a very nice picture of the crack so if would like to look at it and give me an idea that would be awesome. My address is danerandall314@hotmail.com

Dane,
If you can't get it repaired try parting it out. I would be interested in a triangular hammer and strut assembly with washer. I know that there are others at this forum who would be interested in other parts. If you do it right, you may end up with enough to purchase a new pistole. If that doesn't work you could try bartos to see if he can get parts. PM me if that idea doesn't work.
