Very interesting project post TTH. The positives of the P-64 are many; the multiple parts and hooking them back up are the downside for the un-initiated. In that respect the Makarov with 27-parts and only one loaded spring - on the hammer - wins. But that's just a matter of training. Good luck, and I'll be following the progress.

I know what you mean about all the parts. I can't wait to do some of my Makarovs since they are so much more simple with less parts. I love both the P-64 and Maks. It's kinda like restoring an older muscle car. I should have some more neat pics soon.

This is just before aluminum oxide blasting with a pneaumatic blasting gun from Lauer Custom Weaponry (where I got the Duracoat)

Blasted the grips which left them flat and gritty wait till you see them after duracoat...

Heating the parts in distilled water up to 170 degrees before transfering to the manganese parkerizing solution.

Now in the parkerizing solution for about 20 min

Spraying with Duracoat matte black

All parts have been sprayed and dried for 20 min in a 120 degree oven to speed up drying time then fan for a few days to fully harden.
