CZ -82 I THINK ARE C&R NOW

Don

The finish on these guns is some kind of bake on paint not as nice as the P-64
the ones I got are a lot better than the ones I seen at gun shows
I'm thinking of having one hard chromed
the rifling in the barrel is very strange to me it almost looks like a smooth bore
the trigger pull on the ones I got are sweat both DA & SA
DENNIS makes grips for these too

I've heard the finish is a paint job, easily scratches and once scratched potential for peeling and flaking is high. I'd love to see on in hard chrome, that should be interesting!

Changing the inclination of the light you are reflecting up the bore as you view it shows the symetry and twist of the polygonal rifling. Fascinating concept that actually works!

I've had one of these since last fall. I liked the way it fit my hand, and my wife likes it to for an added bonus. The polygonal bore is explained in Wikipedia if one searches under polygonal rifling.
I like the trigger pull on mine also. The ambidextrous mag release is nice also. Hopefully UPS will deliver a second one for me tomorrow.

My CZ-82 shoots a pretty good group, but it shoots them low. I have to cover the whole bull with the blade, rather than use my regular 6 o'clock hold. I don't like it, but I haven't been able to bring myself to file the blade. ;D

I put 5 rounds though one my CZ-82 yesterday at 10 ' groups nice trigger pull is nice , I especially like the wide trigger, recoil wasn't bad at all compared to other 9 X 18 gun's I have shot .

Like bzinggg said it shot low but my P-64 shoots in the same place for me ,
don't get wrong I still love my P-64's

The CZ-82 is a great addition to any 9x18 handgun collection.
It's probably the best surplus 9x18 on the market. The grip is very natural...like the CZ-75. The trigger is excellent in both SA and DA. Fit and finish are very good. The painted finish has some advantages over blued finishes if you want to carry it.
A little large compared to a P-64 and a half pound heavier loaded.
I hand picked mine at AIM about a year ago. It is in excellent condition. It has become the gun in the nightstand for me.
I wouldn't part with it.

I have a CZ-82 and love it myself! Now that it is C&R, I have been thinking about buying a couple more for the heck of it. I wish it had been C&R when I bought mine and I would have saved a few dollars for the transfer fees, LOL.

Have any of you guys noticed the small place on the right side of the slide where the paint chips off? I think this is from the holster flap stud contacting the finish. The paint is nice, but once it starts chipping, I wonder if it will continue? On mine, I gently smoothed the edges of the paint so it would not have an edge to keep chipping. I also used some bluing on the bare metal and it looks better now; not perfect, but acceptable.

I've been waiting for someone who strips and blues a vs. 82 to comment on the feasibility. I am wondering if the alloy in the steel prohibits bluing, etc. Mine looks fine with only a tiny chip, and the powder coat or paint, whichever it is, is comfortable in the grip. But the gun would be great blued if it became chipped more badly. I just have my doubts that the bluing would take well, and would like to find out.

When I did the "touch up" cold blue job on my CZ-82 slide (where the flap stud on the holster contated the slide), it came out OK. It was not a black, but it was a lot better than the dull spot left on the metal. Actually, the spot almost appears to have a phosphate finish under the paint. What I do know it it is a dull, matt, greyish color. I assumed it was like the British did on the Browning pistols, phosphate and then paint the surface. The paint the Brits use is very durable wo oils and solvents, but it sure chips easy. If the paint would come off easy, a coating of Dura Coat would be great on it.
