CZ -82 I THINK ARE C&R NOW

Post by mecenas »

That is all true, but these that are less than 50 years old must fall in either category 2 or 3, and unless you found one particularly special gun that would either have museum quality or was special in some other way - no CZ or P 64 will qualify, making this whole discussion moot until the earliest production date on a dated firearm is fifty years before you try to buy it under the C&R rule.

and unless you found one particularly special gun that would either have museum quality or was special in some other way ...
Something like a Romanian SKS made in the 60's?
Or an Albanian SKS made in the 70's?

Both of these are examples of weapons that are well underage and are C&R as a class ... not individual weapons gifted to a famous general or anything like that. They ARE out of current production, though, and that seems to be a hard and fast requirement for BATFE.

The C&R rules are neither simple nor obvious in many cases ... If AIM has gotten a BATFE ruling that proclaims the CZ-82 to be C&R, then I think that ought to suffice ... it may be nice to get a copy, though.

thank you I was wondering if some one would notice. Also Aim is only one of 5 distributors who have the cz82 as C and r ..as we know the rulings are sometime mind boggling and also are not always posted in a contemporaneous manner.. I am sure the 5 dist.. are not going to be in violation.......

I think there is a really good chance someone could get P64s listed as C&R. Why do we care WHY? The more that are listed as C&R the better for everyone. BTW I ordered mine from AIM yesterday!

If someone can figure out how the CZ-82 got on and apply it to the P-64...I'm buying the drinks! I've been dying to get a P-64 in Mass but the "brilliant" minds of the Democratic politicians that run this wonderful commonwealth feel it is too dangerous to trust us with...so I live vicariously through you guys! And to top it off, I just got my C&R FFL in the mail yesterday! I'm ready to rock and roll...but I'm gonna need a bigger safe. 8~)

It might be they classified as a discontinued miltary (Replaced by the cz83) and made it historically of the cold war collectable but I dont really care I got mine .. And it is a start for the other types we collect or carry which means more parts if there are more in the market.. The down side or upside depending what you have a c and r weapon for is that most suppliers or shops raise the price for a while ( with exception of one of my favorites ,1895 Nagant, but they are now going higher on aution sites..)
cases in point we now have wolf springs and new mags for the 64.
when the Nagant started selling a lot there was the 32 cyclinder .. look at all the stuff out there for the SKS.

I think a C&R is a good thing for some, you save some time and money, BIMO, I don't what to keep records for the government. With a C&R you have to keep records of every transaction, just as a FFL holder does in some respects, and are responsible for them for years. I started to get one, but I had second thoughts. I still live in the land of the free here in KY, until the government, Fed's or State change my mind, I'll just keep things the way they are. Just my $0.02 worth
