flat grips

How easy is it to find flat grips for a P 64? Thank you.

I think 2 guys are selling wooden grips here. One for sure, Dennis. Look in the mods, fixes and repairs section. I think his sell in the 30's which is a great deal for what he makes.

Zee stopped making plastic grips due to problems with buyers from what I heard.

I don't think anyone is making resin flat grips anymore but a couple forum members might have some extra Zeegrips they'd part with. I think that member Mattswab had some available recently. I don't remember what color he had but the supply is low so getting Zeegrips at all would be lucky. I was lucky enough to get some flat black originals from a member. Many people have switched to handmade wooden grips so there might be some original flats ones floating around.

The first p-64 I got had the thumb rest. The second two I got from SOG had flat grips. Go figger....

I am picking up a p 64 tomorrow night. I have a choice between an unissued with a thumb rest and a used flat gripped pistol. I would much rather have the flat grips. If I was sure I could get a set of flats, I would most likely go for the unissued. Undecided???

Tell your dealer that you want the unissued pistol but with the flat grips on it and that you will be happy to swap them out. Bring your own screwdriver. Some dealers are not very good with tools.

Go with the un-issued, a novice could have been practicing gun smithy on the other and screwed around with the springs... Just a thought.

I'd go with the unissued. It might be worth a few extra $ if he will let you swap out the grips since you'd probably buy them later anyway.I personally have no problem with the thumbrest grips but I hear they can crack if you shoot alot and I thought I'd get flat grips while they were offered for sale rather than be sorry I waited. At least now I have back up grips if needed. You can always sell the thumbrest grips too. These were recently on Ebay.

Tell him you know the thumbrest grips are more expensive, but you will swap them out to help him sell the used gun, he may not know the diff. The dealers around here sure don't.

When I go to KC I'll see if any are there cheap. If so, I'll sell them to members at cost plus postage. They always have good deals if you look hard enough.
