Seven round military model P64

Post by gunneyrabbit »

Hello all,
Just out of curiosity, how many of you folks out there own one of the seven round military model P64 pistole's? I have read about them but have never seen one. Could you post a photo if you own one and If you do own one could you do a review for the group?
Thanks in advance.......................... G.R.

GR,

The only pistols as you mentioned I heard of are the ones with modified mags by users here.

I realize this is no eathshatterin' news but w/extra rnd ya gonna put mo' stress on the mag spring n it's my belief that doing so will wear out the spring faster if ya carry fully loaded. Of course Wolf Springs is supposed to come out w/new mag springs so I guess they'll offer the 5-10% stronger. Even on my high caps I run a couple short so I don't have the spring fully compressed 4 longer life.

Actually I was referring to the "HISTORY" section of the "UNOFFICIAL P-64 RESOURCE " web page. I believe that Dick probably wrote it, in it he refers to the military version differing both in external dimension and magazine capacity, longer and having a magazine capacity of seven rounds. I would sure like to see a picture of one, better yet own one. If any one comes across a picture of, or should happen to own one, I thought it would be nice to share it with the group. ....................... G.R.

gunneyrabbit,

Yes, I am aware of the "HISTORY" section of the "UNOFFICIAL P-64 RESOURCE" web page. To the best of my knowledge, the pistol you are asking about was a prototype only, model "W" with the 7rd mag that was never put into production, however in 1961 the model "M" was adopted and called the P-64 as the military and police pistol of Poland. After 1977 they upgraded the P-64 to a P-83 model with a 8rd mag. So trying to find that "W" prototype model with a 7rd mag might be a little tough to find. I can't say that I have ever seen a picture of it, maybe someone here can come up with a pic of it, and correct me if I am wrong about the "W" prototype model. I am pretty sure that there are several of us that would like to have that model too.
