My gun won't fire DA-can't figure it out

My gun won't fire double action. When I pull the trigger, nothing happens-the trigger moves, but not the hammer. Single action works fine.

Also, the gun will work double action with the slide removed. It's only when the slide is on that it won't fire double action

The safety appears to be operating normally, but something must be pressing on the safety disconnect(right word?) that is causing it to move the trigger bar away from the hammer assembly.

Anyone seen this before? Any ideas? I replaced the hammer spring, but as far as I can tell, that has nothing to do with the trigger bar spring or safety.

Check your grips-- the connector between the trigger and the hammer will sometimes stick on the inside surface of the right-side grip. My son makes grips, it is a problem he has to correct every so often.. When that happens, it will fire sa but not da, same deal--trigger moves but not the hammer.

It works okay with the grips on and the slide off. With the slide on the trigger goes all the way back and ther is a little click, but nothing. The hammer is never engaged. Strange huh? This only happens with the slide on.

Okay, it's fixed. I fixed it by replacing the original trigger spring. Now it works, so obviously it was something I did. I tried the 17# spring and the 18# spring, but it did not work.

So, problem solved, but I'm not sure why yet.
