Welcome. I like what you did with the grips.

Hasn't been much activity on these forums in quite a while. I still check them regularly, though.

Thanks guys. I posted more about the grips in a grips thread elsewhere here. That's where I got the idea from a member called J.D. his turned out so well I figured I had to try it too. Since Polish Iron grips are no longer in business I wanted to try something to tame the recoil some. I was using a rubber grip sleeve with hockey tape over that and it worked well but I was getting some recurring rust issues on the front strap under the tape where moisture was getting trapped.

The leather grips are even better taming recoil and spreading it out than the sleeve and hockey tape ugly solution. All of the cosmetic things I have done were done for mainly other ergonomic reasons like that. I had a LOT of rust issues carrying daily in a saltwater environment so that is why I did the hard chrome on the slide. The beautiful bluing wore pretty fast in a kydex holster and rusted everywhere it touched and made bare metal. Now after over a year no slide rust at all with hard chrome. Before I sent the slide out I smothened and melted the back of it which eliminated all the bite on the web of my hand. No more blood or scratches. I went around the whole slide while I was at it. The serial number and circle-11 engraving got a little muted because of bad pitting nearby. On the other slide I have in currently it should be sharper I hope.

The trigger was refinished because I greatly smothened the very sharp edges on that too, which were eating up my trigger finger on the new much longer range days now that the recoil was tamed and the web bite was gone. Gold looks nice there and reminds me of the old Browning 22 pistols. The trigger is way better now but the trigger guard is still kind of sharp too so that might eventually get smoothened and refinished in black TiN someday after I get done bringing the bottom one up to be like the top one. As long as my grip is good and strong the trigger guard doesn't touch unlike the trigger itself which was very sharp on the edges and made my trigger finger raw after a couple of boxes of shooting.
