I just got my 1970 P 64 back from having it hard chromed, and while it was out I decided to dress the old boy up a bit.
This is my main carry piece, and it now has a Polish Eagle, a set of Marschal zebrawood grips with red shellac, and a bit of an action job from APW Cogan Custom. I know that the Polish Eagle isn't quite era-appropriate for a communist bloc pistol... but as a descendant of a 100% Polish family who immigrated to the USA to make a better life amidst Russian and German oppression, I thought it would be fitting to take some pride while exercising my 2nd amendment freedom here.
Thanks guys! I couldn't be happier with it, and the folks at APW were awesome to work with. They communicated with me by phone and email every step of the way, and went above and beyond to make it function better than I thought a P64 possibly could. The action on this thing is amazing.
Yep, APW did the finish too. According to their website, they do hard chrome, nickel, blue, and cerakote. The eagle was laser etched based on an image I sent them. Overall they were really nice people to work with!
I may have to check them out. I recently aquired an Astra A75 in stainless that I think I want finished in either NP3, brushed chrome or possibly siler grey cerekote. I am not a big fan of the Spanish pistols stainless color as it is kind of champagne colored.
Close enough for Government work will get you dead, ask any Vet.
I bet that Astra would look really good in brushed chrome! I never used to be a fan of bling on my guns, but I gotta admit, I kinda dig this P64 now that I have had it back for a few days. It is My Precious.
