I Emailed Wolff about the recoil spring from a different Email address, and this was their reply received today:
"We currently offer no recoil springs for the P64 although they are in the works and should be available in the next few months. The standard Makarov springs are not suitable for the P64".
I am still willing to wait until they engineer a spring rather than guess at cutting coils

Vermonter,
There may be a 'quicker' alternative. If you get the chance go to "fixes, modifications" section on the message board to "online springs" thread. It apperas as though there may be move to custom order 100 to 200 custom-made springs for our P-64.
Like you, I'm not wild about cutting coils and would prefer Wolff or some other quality maker to come out with a heavy duty recoil spring for this fine pistol.
Hopefully, one way or another, we won't have to wait much longer.
