Mail Orders?

Post by WarLord »

Hi all, this is my first post besides the welcome post. I have a question as I am planning on buying a P 64. I was wondering if any members have purchased from Classic Firearms. Good, bad, indifferent?

The have a better deal than J&G Sales. I have purchased from J&G before and was happy with the transaction but Classic has the P 64, two magazines, and holster for 189.99 as apposed to J&G with the pistol and one mag. for 179.99. Shipping is about 4.00 dollars cheaper with Classic.

So any thoughts on Classic?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums!

I bought my P64 from Classic Arms. I am very satisfied with the purchase. The Gun was in great shape, and not loaded with cosmoline either. I also purchased a Tula Mosin Nagant from them at the same time. The rifle was in great shape too. I'm getting ready to order from them again this week. I paid the extra for the hand select, and the guns looked just like what they picture on their website.

I highly recommend them.

Thank you for the reply. It makes me feel better about them. Just a little reluctant since I have never purchased from them.

Buy with confidence. I actually called them while waiting on my purchase, and they were very helpful. I've got family who purchased from J&G, and they were happy with what they got from them too, but I chose Classic Arms because of their reputation of having better quality items. J&G is hit and miss from what I've read on other threads here.

Let us know how you make out! Don't forget to post pics!

i got my p64 from classic arms 3 weeks ago. its a 1973 and was ready to shoot, no cosmoline on it. but it was missing the nut on the grips, but from the fixes section, i went to ace hardware and bought the 3mm x .50 pitch nut for 11 cents.

Well, I will give Classic a review in a few days. I went ahead and ordered the P 64 last night. $189.99 with two magazines and a holster (old police/military type I am sure). $16.95 shipping. Still a very good deal I think.

I also have purchased from J&G. Specificaly a couple of Mosin Nagants and have been happy with the products and service but with money rather tight I chose to get the extra Mag. and holster for just $10.00 more. A little better shipping too.

J&G wanted $179.00 with one mag. no holster.

Thanks again for the replies.

I'll let you folks know what I end up with if you are interested?

Like you had to ask that... Of course we are interested! I'm also interested in you Mosin Nagants. Maybe you could post some pics of those over in the misc. gun forum.

You won't be disappointed. I ordered mine from Classic as well. Whatever they send is exactly as described or better. The only weird thing is I figured it would arrive via UPS but it actually came in the mail.

Yea, I know what you mean. I called them today and was told it was sent by priority mail yesterday and I should get it in two or three days. I ask if there was a tracking number and was told no. I ask how do you know when I receive it and she says "we don't". Now that is just plain weird. They got to track/insure/delivery confirmation, something :?:

I take it you are a C&R license holder. If my collection grows anymore, I really need to consider getting one.

That's weird about their shipping. I thought I read somewhere on their site that they send a tracking number when they ship. Maybe it was just a confirmation email that it's "in the mail"? I have my guns shipped to my favorite FFL, so I wouldn't know.

I just have to wait until they draw the payment from my bank account for my purchase, and then I go to the gun shop three days later...

Edit- Just went to their website, and it say's this right on the home page;

"ORDER ON-LINE NOW!
OUR WEBSITE NOW ALLOWS YOU TO PLACE YOUR ORDER ON-LINE AT YOUR CONVENIENCE. SIMPLY CLICK THE ON-LINE BUTTON AND GO TO IT. WHEN ORDERING ONLINE YOU WILL RECEIVE AN ORDER CONFIRMATION EMAIL, AND A SHIPPING CONFIRMATION EMAIL, WITH TRACKING NUMBER. YOU CAN ALSO CHECK YOUR ORDER STATUS ON-LINE"

Maybe tracking numbers are only generated for online sales? I generally fax my order in, so again... I wouldn't know. That's strange that they would tell you otherwise on the phone.

Having dealt with both JG & Classic Arms several times, my first choice would always be Classic Arms. Products always better than expected, rapid delivery even if USPS,,,,,,,,,,,, excellent people to deal with.

I order from Classic via phone and they don't provide a tracking number. The box does have delivery confirmation and signature confirmation so, there is a tracking number but they just don't give it to the customer. I do have a C&R. It's awesome!
