P-64 Rear Sights?

Post by JSandi »

The rear sights on my P64 are slightly to the right, looks like whomever put them in didn't drive them all the way in.

I tried to move them with a hammer and punch and its alot easier said than done. Thinking I might be doing something wrong I hit google, did a search and found several folks talking about their rear sights being moved to the right.

Is this common, perhaps they install the sights from the right side and many don't get drifted all the way to the left properly?

Mine are the same, maybe more to the right than "slightly", and almost look like they were staked in place. No need to move them on my gun as it sights true.

I'm starting to think this might be normal.

Many others on several C&R forums as well as a pistol web site or two seem to report the same or similar on their guns.

As long as they don't start roaming around I'm okay with it.

The rear sight is a bear to get moved. I had to lightly heat my slide at the site where the rear sight was. Then beat it pretty hard with a brass punch. Mine are still off and I don't feel like whacking it anymore.
