Hello all.... "New" to me P-64 Arrived Today (J&G)

Post by mjmelland »

Hello everyone... very informative forum here and I'm glad to have found it. My "new" to me P-64 arrived today. I had ordered it from J&G and paid the extra $20 for hand select. Either I got lucky, or they really did select a nice weapon for the extra $20 because it's in excellent condition with little or no blueing wear or any other imperfections other than:

1. While it's not that bad it irks a perfectionist like me, the import etching/stamping job CIA did on the slide must have been performed by a dyslexic alcoholic... it's nice and crisp, looks nice, but slopes uphill about 5 degrees toward the grip. Had it been done level with the lines of the weapon it would have been perfect.

2. The user etched number on the magazine does not match the weapon serial number.... all other numbers on the weapon match.

Insignificant, but I thought I'd mention it. My spring kit should be here tomorrow so I'm eagerly awaiting the chance to try it out. I carried weapons and instructed same until I retired last July for 30+ years. I gotta say that for the money, these are nicely made weapons.

You bet... I've had a C&R for a loooong time and usually buy my "collectibles" face to face. This time I got lucky... sometimes even a blind squirrel finds a nut. I agree, for $169 it's a real bargain.
