Rubber Grips?

Post by doctormike »

Has anyone tried making rubber grips for the P-64? Ihave a Hogue slip-on on mine, but it doesn't do much for the recoil on the web of my hand.

Rubber Grips?

When Zee was molding the plastic ones, I suggested that he try some polyurethane, but he said that it was going to be too difficult ... I'd LOVE some ... maybe Chris Bond would be willing to give it a whirl at some point ... I bet some Shore A 60 or 70 durometer PU grips would take a BUNCH of the recoil out of this snappy guy!

I would be interested in replacing the stock grips with a rubber shock absorber even if it reduces the recoil a small amount. It would certainly make my practice sessions longer. I'm not whinning really loud but the recoil is certainly greater than the other 9's I've shot even with a recoil spring change.

Try a Pearce grip. Rubber, recoil-absorbing, supposed to be comfortable, just tough to conceal carry with it...I understand.

Where do I find a Pearce grip for the P64? The one I've shot on a PM (Mak) was wonderful ... if Pearce makes them for the P64, I'm in!

PLEASE PLEASE share the source for this one!!!!!

Does Pearce make a grip for a P64?

This is a pretty old thread, 4 years old. I don't believe Pearce makes anything for the P-64, just the Makarov. As for rubbery grip, about the best you're gonna get is an old bicycle inner-tube or Hogue Handall Jr. Not much else out there my friend.

Here's what I imagine:
Marschal grips routed out somewhat to fit a rubber insert.
Either that or copied entirely in rubber like the Makarov grips.
Ultimately I'm hoping to have a small beavertail added to my P64. It will keep my hand from riding up and getting slide cut.
