ported slide?/?????

ported slide?/?????

i seen this pic of a pa63 i think it was or p64 but the guy ported the slide and it looked great.
what is the purpose for this and im sure something like that would not be hard to do yourself..
i think he had 4 holes on just the one side if i seen it right
any thoughts on this would it be easy to do my self?is it serve a purpose at all?

Slides are easy to port if you have a mill and a little skill. Barrels, on the other hand, require much more specialized skills and tools.

what is the purpose of slide porting?can u just port the slide and not the barrel

The purpose of porting is to reduce muzzle rise (aka "muzzle flip"). The basic idea is that holes are "drilled" into the top of the barrel so that, when fired, some of the gasses eject upward creating downward force on the firearm, thus reducing perceived muzzle rise and facilitating quicker follow up shots.

Yes, it is possible to port the slide alone and not also the barrel. This would be done mainly for cosmetic purposes though I suppose it could slightly reduce the over all weight of the firearm.

This feller on this forum did some porting and other cosmetics to his P-64.
