New Member and Very Impressed
Hello Everyone. I have to say that I am very impressed with the wealth of knowledge from all the members. I picked up a P-64 today dated 1972. I didn't know much about them except that they shoot the same ammo as my Bulg. Mak. First thing I noticed was the trigger pull. You tell me what possessed someone to make a trigger pull that freaken hard...Single action is perfect. I have a 16# and 18# triggr springs on the way. It seemed that the 16 and 18 were the springs of choice. Also I think it is pretty cool to have the loaded chamber indicator on a pistol 30+ years old.I am going to take it out to the range tomorrow and see if I made a good purchase.

alfalfajones,
Welcome to the P-64 Forum! Yep, there are a bunch of guys here that know a lot about this pistol. Glad you like the pistol, is yours as accurate as everyone elses?
Your question about the heavy DA pull has been addressed and from what we have been told by a Polish military officer, this was done to allow the use of sub gun ammos which had hard primers. The heavy pull, due to the springs, would ignite the rounds. Today, we don't need this heavy hammer fall since the primers are standard, so changing out the spring seems to solve the problem and brings the DA pull to be manageable and also makes the SA pull even better.
Please come back often with any questions and keep us informed with your P-64 shooting.

Hey alfalfajones,
Welcome to the forum.
I have a different view on the mechanics and design of the P-64, enumerated here:

See you around...

Well I got my #16 sping in yesterday and what a difference it makes. I didn't notice any difference in SA though.
I have a question about the Camo grips I have seen on here and was wanting to know if they are rubber and if they help with the "sting".
Thanks

Thank you Normsutton. I forgot that I had a Pachmyer slip on grip on another pistol and it fit perfect. It did take a little of the sting out. Went out to the range yesterday after replacing the hammer spring and my magazine comes out on the last round. Not a problem though because my left hand cups the bottom. I have seen other posts with the similar occurance. I don't want to call it a problem since you have to eject the magazine anyway.
