Trigger Pin not flush
Trigger Pin not flush
Bought my P64 last week and shot it yesterday. Worked great but when cleaning I noticed the trigger pin coming out slightly. Tried pushing it in to no avail. Is this normal? I've seen pictures where the pin is flush with the frame.

Re: Trigger Pin not flush
That threw me too when I first got my P64.
That pin has an oblong head which fits into a matching depression in the frame. Pulling the trigger with the slide off will make the pin 'walk' out and rotate so the head doesn't line up with the depression. No matter how hard you push, it won't go flush.
Rotate that pin until the head lines up with the depression. Then, it should push right in and be flush. Once it's in and the slide is put on, the slide should keep the pin in its place.

Thanks! I had to use a small punch and a hammer as I could not push it in with my finger. Slide is back on and it seems to work. It is nice and flush on both sides.
When I shot it, it shot fine. Very accurate when shooting from a rest. The empties ejected far away and the slide failed to go into battery once. So I just ordered some Wolff gun springs (recoil and hammer).
Have you had yours long?

Re: Trigger Pin not flush
I never had to tap that pin in. It might take a pair of long nose pliers to rotate into position some times but I could always push it back in with my thumb.
They do tend to fling brass. I shoot in an indoor range and it's not unusual to find brass which has bounced off the partition wall then ended up on top of the bench along the wall behind me. Even with new springs.
I have two. The first I got about 18 months ago. The second I got about a year ago.
My second P64 had a tendency to occasionally not go fully into battery when it was 'new' and I would have to seat it with my thumb. However, after a few trips to the range, it smoothed out just fine. You did clean out all the cosmoline didn't you? Mil Surplus guns are usually loaded with the stuff.

Yes, I gave it a good soaking in mineral spirits. That did the trick. The slide not going in battery and needing some "thumb" help is what I had. I read somewhere that the empties being ejected so far also had to do with the recoil spring being too weak. Once I get my 20 lb spring installed, I'll let you know.
