p-64 trigger will not reset
Just picked up a 1973 p-64 like new at Cabelas's for $179. Went through 50 rounds and first two mags went ok then it started to not reset trigger every 3-5 five shots. I made sure I let trigger return all the way forward, after a couple malfunctions thought maybe I was doing it. Sometimes trigger did not reset after last round of mag,,,, slide locks back after last round, insert another loaded mag, dead trigger. Some times I could double pump trigger and it would then reset. I did field strip and clean before I took it to range but I will field strip and soak it in mineral spirits and clean it out good, lube and see what happens. Does this sound like a dirty gun or do I need a fix?

Sounds like your trigger return spring may not be installed properly. Give it a good cleaning and look at that spring.
This manual assumes you have taken the whole gun apart.

I removed slide and grips, then removed slide stop bar to examine trigger return spring. Did not remove trigger but spring looked intact like Norm's photo. Everything appeared to be pretty clean but I flushed everything out with mineral spirits toothbrush then air compresser. Cleaned everything up, lubed and put back together. Will test later this week. I am still concerned as I really did not see anything wrong.

Runs like a champ after cleaning. Shot a box and it was flawless. Now I need more ammo

winken, don't feel bad we have all been there. Isn't it amazing what a little elbo grease and the proper cleaning products will correct.
