Safety detent spring

Post by makarov9 »

Hey everybody, I'm a new owner of a P64, I own 3 Maks and love em, but I've got a problem.

I put a Wolf spring kit on the 64, and I guess I lost the safety detent & detent spring when I installed the firing pin spring. The safety lever has very little resistence and falls when I'm firing, causing the hammer to fall after the first shot & jamming. Can anyone please help me out and tell me where I can find these 2 parts? I love the de-cocker on these pistols , but can't use the safety properly now

Parts for the P 64 are non existent however, take heart that this has stirred a rare human quality known as ingenuity. You can use a spring from a 1911 thumb safety and the detent pin as well. You will have to cut the detent pin down to about half the original size and trim some coils off the spring to get the tension you require.

In the future you might also want to do disassemble inside a plastic bag so springs and spring loaded parts don't get away from you. This was secret was gleaned right hear for Norm Sutton and has save me many hours of doing the gunsmith crawl looking for lost parts.......
