Picked up a '73 P-64 Radom recently with two OEM magazines and cleaning rod. After a good cleaning, off to the indoor range with a box of Brown Bear 95 gr.

As usual accuracy was very good, the DA trigger pull was horrible, SA pull was nice and easy, and felt recoil was painful.

Question is: what must I change to ease the DA trigger action, and how can I lessen the sharp recoil??

(I've already installed an Uncle Mike medium grip sleeve]

Norm:

I wanted to say thanks again for your help. I have changed the hammer spring to a 20 lb and the recoil spring to a 20 lb from Wolfe. What an amazing difference it makes. I also polished up the feed ramp and this is one sweet little shooting iron. I have under $200.00 bucks invested in a carry gun that I trust my life too. These P 64's are a rare find for ccw guns and much better made that the junk coming out of South America that costs twice as much. I had a concern about Steel Case Ammo from Silver Bear but I figured if the military used it that was fine with me as well. These little gems seemed to be built to handle it for years on end.

These are not range guns and have a specific design purpose and they meet that flawlessly.
For self protection they are hard to beat.

Once again, thanks for your valued help and advice.

Mike

Norm and Boomer, thanks for the info. I have Wolf springs on the way to me and ammo data specs are useful.

I did not have much to do with it and Norm is the go to man in my book. I only know what Norm told me and I am learning as fast as I can. I have been doing pistol smithing for years now and I learn something new every day. That trick with the paper clip will definitely save you a lot of aggravation when changing out the main spring and that we can all thank Norm for. There is just nothing that beats experience.
