Carbon build up in shell casings!

For you fellows who reload your ammo, what do you use to clean up the carbon in your shell casings?
I'm wondering if I'm creating the problem by using liquid brass polish prior to reloading?
Any help would be appreciated.

I use dawn dish soap. If single use your washing machineLOL if married hand wash in a tub. let em dry really good then throw them in my Harbor Frieght tumbler with walnut husks. Sometimes throw dash of brasso in there.. also if you have a chuck of red rouge that does nice work...

All my brass is tossed in a tumbler before loading. Walnut shells and a dab of Lyman brass polish every other load.
I'm not trying to remove all the internal carbon but an over night tumble will usually get rid of most of it.

I tumble all my brass in either with crushed walnut or corn cob media with a small amount of TurtleWax Finish 2001..... works for me. BTW I get my walnut and corn cob media at my local pet store, a lot cheaper and I can change it more often and its still cheaper.

Thanks guys, I think I'll try the Dawn dish soap angle and see how it works. This stuff is really tenacious, the walnut shell and corn cob isn't getting to it unless I leave them in the tumbler over night and I'm uncomfortable with that.
