ever had to use your ccw?

Post by jhandy »

so, we talk allot about the p-64 for carry, so I was wondering if anyone has ever had to defend themselves with a firearm, or at least ever had to pull it. I think we have some military, and police members, so some stories would be nice to hear. Ive never been in this kind of situation myself, so i think hearing what it is like would maybe help to be prepared.

Read your gun laws very throughly. And, you will know when you need to pull your pistole. But, I commend you for asking it shows alot of responsibility.

Nope. And I hope I never have to. That said, the Boy Scout motto "Be Prepared" is appropriate for this discussion. Meaning, if you are going to consider a P-64 (or any pistol) for concealed carry, become intimately familiar with how it shoots, works, fits in your holster, fits in your trousers, FTF, etc. Also, consider joining the group "USConcealedCarry". They advertise on this forum, and (for $50/year) have a lot of good advice. And no, I'm not employed by them.

If you don't already have a CCW permit, strongly suggest obtaining one. It will also facilitate getting info on your state's CCW laws.

The American Rifleman (NRA’s monthly magazine) has a section titled, “The Armed Citizen” - stories of US citizens protecting themselves with firearms. Good reading...especially the ones where some old granny with a 12-gauge blows away some meth-head that breaks into her home. ;)
Some good CCW stories too - unfortunately you rarely hear these exploits on the local news.

The first thing I read in the American Rifleman is "The Armed Citizen". All true stories, some took place in my area!
I too have had a CCW permit for many years and never had to use it.
