Rough-looking hammer strut

I just installed a new Wolff 20# hammer spring, and discovered that my hammer strut looks like it was rough ground and left unfinished on the upper end.

Has anyone else noticed this on theirs?

BTW, the hammer spring improved the double action just enough and the single action doesn't seem too light. I'll have to take it to the range to get a full impression.

Polishing the hammer strut may improve the double action trigger pull.

Last night I removed the hammer strut and burnished the sides against 400 sandpaper, but I was reluctant to remove any metal from the notch surfaces, even though they are very rough.

Should I take the chance to polish those surfaces? Anybody know where I can get a new hammer strut if I ruin this one? :(

Don't touch the notches on the upper part of the hammer strut. I did that once on a CZ-50 and it wouldn't fire after that until I replaced the strut with a new one.

Just polish the long thin lower part that goes inside the hammer spring. I concentrate on the corners of a hammer strut when I polish one. The corners are where it contacts the hammer spring. Draw a circle on a peace of paper if you want to and then draw a rectangle inside the circle. Where would the rectangle contact the circle.?

Thanks for the advice. Perhaps I'll just let time and use do some polishing and not take a chance at messing up an unobtainable part!
