First p64 from J&G 5/11 : bottom of the barrel?

Post by tooldawg99 »

I was in the market for a PPK/s, and as part of my internet research, I stumbled across this web site. I had already purchased an Interarms PPH, which is basically a PA63 chambered in .380 and am very pleased with it so far. As a CWP holder, I want something besides my GLock 19 and 26, for discreet summer carry...and then I started hearing about this P64...

I went ahead and grabbed one from J&G last week, hoping they weren't picking from the bottom of the barrel... they no longer offer hand pick, so I was very concerned about what condition mine would be in... I have already heard that the CZ82's are getting scarse, so what would I find in my J&G box????

As you can see, it is a 1970 round hammer, and it is as close to mint as a 39 year old gun could be! Grabbed up 2 boxes of S&B ammo, and my next stop will be for range, and then for an IWB Dick Funk holster. This gem is gorgeous! No holster wear at all. Not a scratch. I ordered an extra mag which has a different serial # etched into the base, but it looks perfect, too.

For those who are waiting, thinking the good ones are all gone, try out J&G sales... I may have to grab one more! But I will shoot this one and make sure it lives up to the hype first... but in the mean time, I am planning to get #2 as soon as possible as I know this kind of quality should not come this cheaply!

Good to hear they are still sending out nice ones. I am tempted to grab a second one as well.

1. It's not that I really want or need a second of the same pistol, but if anything ever breaks, I can have a supply of every part!

2. Since we already have 9mm Makarov ammo, it only makes sense to have another gun that shoots the same ammo, and shares the same clips! Think of the ammo savings!

3. One for me, one for you.

4. Okay, okay... it's an awesome little pistol and to buy anything close to it in quality made today would run at least $400, maybe more! Buying two is the same as buying one of anything else! And I'm saving $100!!

And forget about #3: one for me, two for me!

it is a fine looking pistol and honestly do not be surprised when you realize that you got a great buy. It is very easy to conceal and the ammo for it is not dry just yet. I'm sure someone on this forum has bought 1,000 rounds recently, granted in may only be Brown Bear FMJ.

If I had to gripe, I would gripe about two things. One would be the double action pull, which can be fixed with some wolff hammer springs. My second one is the limited capacity of six rounds to a magazine, but it isn't a pistol you engage someone with, just one to defend yourself with.

Take pleasure in knowing that you made a great choice.

I like them well enough. I have 15 so far and sold two. I also have one of Dick's holsters and mag carriers (very nice work by the way and very comfortable). Currently I'm waiting on some grips from Dennis and Zee to dress up a few guns. I have used Dennis over the years for my other C&R and Mak cal. guns. Can't beat these P-64, PA-63 and CZ-82 for the money either. Considering the current political climate, it's nice to still have readily available firearms and ammo.
