carbon covered brass

bought a .32 cal FEG, the fired brass is 1/4 covered in carbon, anybody else seen this? Guessn' the chamber is a little worn?

I fix a brand new kell-tec 32 and the cases came out the same way I don't think you have any thing to worry about

Chuck, does it look like this? Note the two new shells on each end for reference.

If not, I would not worry. I don't think I've yet seen a gun that doesn't put some sort of soot on the fired shell. Usually this is caused by gasses escaping around the shell at the very beginning of the combustion, when the brass hasn't fully sealed yet. Nothing to worry about.

There was another post about carbon on cases. If memory serves me it was either a FEG 618, OR pa-63.

please upload them at (max image size: 640 x 480 ) then I won't have to ask to resize them to 640 x 480 or I might have to delete the pix's, it makes it more enjoyable to look at
so could you resize the pix
we like a lot of pix on the P-64 forum at the right size

Norm, There was a test on Box of truth concerning swaping types of cased ammo. Changing from steel case with poly/Laq coating, then shooting brass. Basically the steel with it's coating having the case not fully expanding on discharge plus the coating residue build-up in the chamber caused problems for brass cases, jammed brass cases, which do fully expand. Cases extracted had carbon/ burnt steel case coating on then. It was interesting.

that's one of the reason I don't shoot steel ammo in my guns , except sliver bear ammo in my SKS's but mostly I shoot reloads,in just about all my hand guns I shoot lead even as my carry ammo, I don't buy a lot of ammo . I buy reloading components,

Norm, It's in Box of truth Educational lesson number 18, 18# Title shooting Wolf .223, in AR15, doe's it damage receivers. I would have to say, yes, it does.

I can't understand why anybody would shoot cheap AMMO in a $500. gun , of coarse I don't know why anybody shoots wolf to begin with its been all over the Internet how bad it is for the two or three years

Norm, The only thing that fit is the old saying: "Penny wise, Pound foolish". Yes, but there are somethings people have to learn for themselves. It's one of the reasons I take advise seriously (yes, some of it is really out there) But, most people are sincere. Learn from other's mistakes.
