Broken P-64... Help

Post by mosinjon »

My dad owns a P-64 and the first time out it broke after about 15 rounds through it. I looked through the disassembly manual and found the offending part. It is the small spring that is held in place by the same pin that holds the trigger in place. It is supposed to keep tension on the trigger bar so that it engages the firing mechanism. One of the arms of the spring broke. I can upload pictures if anyone needs to see what I'm talking about. If you look at the disassembly guide, the spring is pictured in step 11. Does anyone know where I can find this particular part? ???

Thanks for the help

I've been doing some more looking. The spring is called the "trigger return spring" in the P-64 parts list from this site.

I did exactly as what others have described, dry fired the pistol with the grips off, the trigger bar flung out of position, and the pistol would only fire (dry) if held upside down. Sure enough, the trigger spring was not in the proper position to hold constant pressure against the trigger bar, once I held down the spring before placing the trigger bar, all was fine.
