Different recoil springs = what effective result?

Post by whgraham »

I'm not completely new to guns, despite the embryonic question. Please pardon me for asking, but I've never quite figured this out.

A stiffer recoil spring should yield what result in the area of felt recoil, feeding, and extraction?

On the flip side, what will a lighter spring yield?

What will you experience if you start to get too light, or too stiff?

Thanks very much

with a lighter recoil spring you can beat the gun up and it will eventually the gun will break, a heaver one the brass isn't thrown so far , better ammo feed, less stress on gun, and maybe less felt recoil , on some guns to heavy a recoil spring and the gun doesn't work at all

Thank you. On my P64 the brass really flies, so I think I can certainly get away with a heavier spring. You guys seem to prefer 22lb. Is that correct?
