Astra A-100

Post by dusty62 »

I've been doing some reading online about the Astra A-100 (the 80 & 90 as well) and have gotten the itch to check one out. I was wondering if anyone on the forum has had any experience with this pistol? Any personal impressions, etc. Just looking for some insight. I've hit a number of different websites and gobbled up everything I can read about it and now it's time to try to solicit some testimony. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Astra A-100

dusty I have a friend with a Astra A-80 that shoots like a charm.
It looks and handles like a Sig 220 except for the "European" mag release at the bottom of the grip frame.

It is very accurate for me out to 15 yds. and has handled all ammo so far in our range sessions but being a .45 acp it seems to sting more than my old 1911, I get some slide bite but that could be my grip as it rides hide up on the slight beaver tail!

Mags are about $35-$45 or more when you can find them, but they are rugged and strong.

All in all I think it's a winner and I wouldn't pass one up if I came across it.

good luck.

Big54r,

Thanks for the info. From all I've read it the Astra line seems to be a fun and reliable handgun. I'm thinking I'm gonna start looking more seriously. I do appreciate the first hand report. Have fun shootin'.
