I wonder how you build a bullet trap? Or where to find a "real one?"
Cabelas has one for a .22 but nothing bigger. I looked online for plans once and they had ones for gunranges, I think they are a little too expensive for me.
Noise shouldn't be a problem if I only shoot when nobody is home. I never thought about smoke. I could put fans in a couple windows, even in the winter, and that should work.

The bottom one is the Phoenix HP22. I can't take a photo of it alongside the P-64 right now. It sells for $120 in the local stores here.

The other is my S&W 2213.

I saw that the other day...It looks nice, but I would have a difficult time bringing that in "under the radar".

DaveBaird, if I find more than one I will definitely IM you with the link and/or details... :)

Icberlin...two more options. Thank you.

My local shop has very large quantity of used pistols that fit the bill for size and price but are .32 or .25. I just need to be patient...

Have a great weekend everyone!

YAY!! Phoenix Arms came thru on the warranty work, that's always good to know. They sent me a new slide, and here are some photos of my Phoenix Arms HP22 and my P64.

As you can tell, it is not an exact match, tho darn close. Weight is even similar, tho once again not identical.

For a cheap practice .22, it's hard to beat. I really like mine, have 5 magazines and the 5" 'target' barrel. Was sad when it didn't work, and real happy when I called them and they said send in the broken part and then returned the new slice.

Boy, I was tempted as it is exactly what I want...however, after making an offer today - yep still available - clearly it was not meant to be. He is firm on the price +$36 shipping. My offer was basically full price plus a more reasonable $20 ship. At that price, I'm kinda glad he didn't take it...

Davebaird, I step aside for you. It is all yours :-/

Normsutton,

Thanks for the tip. I am not familiar with the brand so I will do some investigating.

Happy New Year all!

I'm not sure, but I think the pistol referred to above is a "pot metal" piece based on an old German design from the 1960's, sold under various names and sometimes styled to resemble a Walther PPK or, as in this case, a Colt 1911.

The best I can tell it is similar to the Iver Johnson in that it is related to the Erma by design. It seems decent enough but the price is rather steep for what it is. But I do appreciate the heads up as I continue my search!

Is the Iver Johnson okay to buy? I have a line on one that is ppk style. I don't want to waste my money on crap. I've read too many bad things about Phoenix Arms quality.
