OK, he is the deal. I was in the process of installing a new trigger guard spring and plunger. The new one was a bunch tighter and I needed my vise which was not operable at the time. I knew my down the street neighbor had one so I went and asked him if I could borrow it, and he said no problem. I got every thing set up to install the spring and pluger and found out I did not have the punch which I needed. So I told my neighbor I would be back in a second because I needed my punch and he said ok. When I got back he had every thing set up, pin in and ready to go. My first idea that there might be a problem was the trigger guard would not budge. The second was the frame bar in front of the trigger looked like it was sniffing the barrel. It was pushed upward 1/8 in. He thugh that he was dong the right thing and wanted to help me out by installing the spring plunger and pin whil I was gone. Question: Does anyone have any idea how one might lower or streighten that piece that the slde goes on, the one in front of the trigger? Some how the got the frame set at an angle and tightened the stew out of it. Please someone tell me that it can be done. :'( :'(

Kind of hard to say without a pic, but off hand the only thing I can think of would be to take a wedge of oak or some other hardwood or possibly plastic or nylon and put that between the barrel and forward frame area and slowly press that between the two and go until your parallel with the barrel. Then proceed to punch your neighbor in the crotch!

did he do it like this
take a wash cloth fold it in half , put gun and cloth between jaws of vise like in pix

then slowly tighten jaws on vise tell you can push pin in or out
you don't need a punch to do this the pin will slide out with a small nail to push it out
PS . REMOVE GRIPS AND RECOIL SPRING

Yeah Norm, that is exactly the way I had it set up, I just didnt have a punch to hold I while I took it out of the vice to install the proper pin.(I don't know, but that is the way I have done it before. I have done it a total of 4 times.)The holes were no exactly lined up when I went to get the punch. And the frame was straight in the vise padded and all. I was a little concerned when I came back and found it crooked in the vise and the pin in. I think that he was trying to do me a favor and wound up with a FUBAR instead. What could I say ?? I will have some pics coming this evening (pacific time) they are pretty interesting to look at I think.

blinddog,
Perhaps after you kick your neighbors ass you should take the frame to a band saw and ship it to Dennis...
Just a thought.

Thanks Norm, Mayby Dennis can make good use of it. And thank you for taking the time to get his address. I know where his message is that has the green line, but, I would like to talk to him and find out for sure how the wants it. Again, thanks Norm.

blinddog,
It will be going to a good cause.
Do you have other P-64's, or are you planning on replacing it?
Please be sure that you legally "dispose" of the serial number. I know my local gun shop disposes of weapons for the local police department, and there is some sort of BATFE serial number paperwork that has to be done to classify a useless gun as dead and gone.
Also, please check into shipping a gun part to Hungary before you just mail it. Both you and Dennis could catch hell if it is not done properly.
If you get into the parts business PM me.
Could you post some photos of this mess so we can see what actually happened?
Thanks, Fritzhund

Yeah, I have 2 other P-64's, but, you know there is just something about giveing one up. I am already trying hou to sneak another on in the house. Lamp shade does't work anymore. I don't smoke so no ash tray. The other two are duracoated so I cant say it one of the others. (She KNOWS what duracoat looks like how you put it on and everything!!!!I guess I'll just have to be honest and tell her it is a old style pencil sharpener. ::)
