TT-33, 9mm

Post by primarchbentley »

I thought I'd found a TT-33 for my collection. Only... when I turned her over, there was a stamp on the left side of the slide stating that the caliber is 9mm, and under the caliber mark was 'Made in China.' These were stamped into the slide, and I believe they were marked at the manufacturer.

This would appear to be a 9mm version of the TT-33, made in China for export. While I've come across a few TT-33s over time, this is the first 9mm export I've seen. Now, a few questions...

What kind of price range should I look at something like this? I have an idea about a straight mil-surplus TT-33, but this bugger has me stumped.

Also, how about 'made for export' firearms from China in the first place? I mean, it seems a number folk don't tend to like mil-surplus from China in the first place, but do any of ya'll have experience w/ Chinese exports?

I wouldn't mind another 9mm range gun, but I'd rather not pay the $ for a piece of junk (I'd rather use that $ towards mil-surplus).

I saw one at a local pawn shop recently going for about $150, They are made by Norinco. which unlike other Chinese enterprises seems to be pretty good quality. aparantly some of their weapons are highly revered (such as their 1911). The only one I have personal experience is their sks (which my brother owns and is surplus) it is a really good gun.
