spring question

I've had the standard issues with the P-64 and will solve with a 20lb hammer spring and 22lb recoil spring. Regarding the RECOIL spring....the tight end (the smaller end) goes on the barrel first...correct?

I understand from other threads I may need to grind to get the recoil spring to fit.

You are correct...the small end goes on the barrel towards the chamber end.
The 22 lb recoil spring will fit many P-64's as is but some require flattening the coils on one or both ends to fit.
