Hi all,
I heard the recoil spring mod has been covered a few times here, but I can't find it.
Can someone please direct me to the previous posts on having to grind down the ends of the spring?
I've decided to go with the 22# recoil spring, and a 20# hammer spring.Think I know what to do with the hammer spring, but now I need to know why? grind the recoil spring. Some say one end, some say both ends.
Would appreciate finding all the links I can to the recoil spring mod.
thanks,
Don

Hi Norm,
Thanks for the info. So,it IS necessary to grind both ends of the recoil spring flat?-I have to take a look at the original, and try to dupicate whatever shape that one has.
Maybe a dumb question but Why grind the ends at all?

I put a new recoil spring in my P64 and I had a lot of trouble getting the slide back on. After reading about someone else having trouble and Norm advising them to grind the ends, I tried only one end and it fixed it. Another one of my P64's I didn't have to grind them at all to get the slide back together. So each one is different. Should a person still grind the ends? By the way, the end I used the grinder on was the tight end, the end that goes on first.

just like electross said some of them fit and some of them don't and you need t to finish the ends of the spring to make some of them fit .

OK,thanks Norm,
I guess,First I'll take a look at the stock spring. Then try the 22# spring as it came from Wolff's,and if I have any problems, then I guess its time to get the grinder out.
thanks,
Don
