JUST put in the 16lb hammer spring from wolf
I ordered my springs from
Wolf Monday morning and got them Thursday afternoon
that is what I call service. I put in the new spring and all I can say is WOW what a difference in the double action trigger pull no worse than my makarov. I am going to the range in the morning to see how the gun behaves and if all goes well it is going to replace my KelTec P3at as my carry piece.
Will keep you posted.

onapar,
Is this the P-64 replacement spring or a Walther spring? Did the Single Action change?
Please keep us posted on the range session.

There is no P-64 replacement spring yet, unless they surprised us. Everybody has been installing the Walther PPK springs from Wolff, which have been proven to work just fine.
My experience was that the SA pull was reduced by 1/4 lb. I have an RCBS trigger pull gauge. One went from 3 1/2 to 3 1/4, and the other from 3 1/4 to 3 lbs. Can't feel the difference.

Congratulations Stan! You've been worrying about the hammer spring mod since the first day of this forum. There is no P-64 replacement spring yet, unless they surprised us. Everybody has been installing the Walther PPK springs from Wolff, which have been proven to work just fine.

I'm glad you finally sprung for the hammer spring and fixed your gun. I and others tried to tell you it made no noticeable difference in the SA. Now you can start your groups from the DA like you should.

Went to the range today with the pp 16lb spring installed. I was able to fire in double action with not a whole lot of effort and the single action was hardly any different. Every thing went perfectly so when I got home I cleaned and lubed and then put in the 14 pound spring and also put in the cut down hk 25lb recoil spring to see if I can stop tossing spent casings into the next county. This is fun, I will report on the next test.

Thanks for the information guys! The range reports are very much needed so eveyone will feel comfortable with new springs. Yea, I like to "tinker" a little, but the engineer in me tends to stay with the original until test results are obtained, so I think the Walther spring is proven to be a success. I look forward to the results of the 14# spring test from "onapar".

16 lb worked fine so I put in the 14 pound spring same result better double action and single fine also. Every round fed fired and ejected and I might add very accurate to boot. This is definatley my carry gun.

You know guys, without this Forum, we may have never known about the Spring change so quickly! Since we have our own Forum now and don't have to "wade" thru all the negative stuff from the Makarov Forum, information flows like a river. All you guys are great about sharing information!

Mrktx
I would order both the 16 and 14 start with the 16 and I know you will love the result. I went to the 14 after that and it is even better.

I put the 16lb in shortly after I got my pistol and love it. I am afraid the 14lb would make the SA pull too light. Its pretty light as it is now.

I got the 16# spring and put it in today. The instruction given here were quite helpful. It took about 10 mins. and there's quite a bit of difference double and single pull. I'll take it out this weekend. I was wondering if anyone had any long term use with the lighter springs and if there have been any problems. Iguess if there had it would have been posted but I am still curious as to whether someone has really put alot of rounds through theirs with the lighter springs.
