Thanks Norm,
The older Firestorms were not mil-spec. The new one is. I know its made in spain, same as the Bersa. On the old model (I owned one), 1911 grips would not fit, they will on the new model.

I had the same problem when I bought a set of Pachmyre presentation grips, beautiful rose wood and rubber but they would not fit my early model Firestorm either. By the way the only thing the pistol won't chamber is wad cutters, it ate every thing else I put in it with out a hick-up. I gave it to my brother when he moved out to the sticks to his newly built retirement home and now I miss it. You will want to do a trigger job and a new barrel bushing won't hurt.
A definite BUY

I guess my eyes are getting old, but when I called the gunshop today, the price on the Firestorm is 399.00 & the RIAs are 379.00.
Sorry if I misled anyone. ???

Now I think I like the RIA better. With such a price disparity as you previously mentioned you couldn't go wrong with the firestorm but at more than the RIA...nope.

Good luck! Either seems like a bargin in this market today anyways.

Okay...I'm easy...buy the Firestorm!!!

I really would like an RIA 1911 CS. This state is so screwed up. The "approved" list of handguns has it listed as approved but the AG's office has a set of standards that the manufacturer needs to meet (drop test, blah, blah, blah) so far Armscor hasn't so nobody stocks them around here. Someday.... ::)

Drop test??? For crying out loud! Why don't they make oven manufacturers develop non-burning stove eyes....so if you accidentally touch it, you'll be OK!!! Sorry about your states screwed up laws, Carguy. Come on down to TN.

RIA RIA RIA RIA!!!!

not really many tornados in east TN.....to many mountains. All that tornado stuff is mainly west TN (very flat) and middle TN (pretty flat). Gray and I live in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains.....so just get an apartment here to be legal and send all the guns down. Oh yeah, you can visit too, Carguy :P.
