9x18 Lake City

Post by fritzhund »

I didn't want to get off on a tangent in the last post by redfestiva, so I am starting this one as sort of a companion post.

I just won an auction including some Lake City 9x18 Makarov ammo. Has anyone used this? From what I have read on-line it looks like Lake City is a major ammo supplier to the US Army.

Thanks, fritzhund ;)

Lake City is a major ammo supplier to our Army. But this Lake City isn't.

The 9x18 variety of Lake City is made by MFS in Hungary and imported by Armscorp USA. The label is a rotten marketing ploy for some really good ammo. The bullet weighs around 93-grains, flies over 1,000 fps, and the case is brass reloadable.

Thanks nbender!

Have you fired any of this? Any other reports good or bad?

I am not an ammunition expert, but after reading some past posts of yours I have a feeling you have been aware of this brand.

Thanks for any info you guys have. It is appreciated.

fritzhund, I have fired a bit of this, starting when it first came available some 4 - 5 years ago. It is good ammo. MFS has always sent us good ammo.

Thanks.

I won't shoot Wollf, I normally shoot Silver Bear, and have recently found some other 9x18 at shows and such.

Since there has been so much info about bad ammo around, I just wanted to hear more about this stuff.
