Round & Triangular Hammers

Post by torpeau »

I looked more closely at my '68 round hammer and noticed that both the safety and hammer are plum colored - sort of like a Mak. I wonder if all round hammers have the plum color.

The only other obvious difference is that the '68 has a truly horrible DA trigger pull compared to my '73s.

I own three and one of them has a plum colored safety, I've noticed that several of my European pistole's have the same issues and believe that it is simple aging of the bluing caused by oxidation. They don't seem to get any worse and it sure doesn't hurt the aesthetics in my opinion.
I would leave one of your pistole's with the springs unaltered just in case you decide to sell it in the future, its a simple five minute job if you should decide to change them at a later date.
Happy New Year!
